The ACPMB Scholarship is a prestigious award established by the Association of Chinese Professors in Manitoba (ACPMB) to encourage undergraduate students to take leadership roles in promoting a vibrant, dynamic, and diverse Chinese community in Manitoba. The ACPMB Scholarship Fund was initially established through the generous donation of $30,000 from Mr. Xue Yong Zhang. This fund is dedicated to providing scholarships to deserving students, fostering educational advancement, and supporting future leaders within the academic community. Administered under the terms set by The Winnipeg Foundation, the ACPMB Scholarship Fund ensures that annual financial awards are distributed in accordance with defined criteria, promoting academic excellence and supporting cultural and educational collaboration between Canada and China.

The ACPMB welcomes further contributions to this fund from individuals and organizations who share our commitment to nurturing academic talent and fostering cross-cultural understanding. Donations can be made online at the following web address: https://www.mycharitytools.com/gift/wpgfdn/donate?fund=5892.

Anyone who donates a minimum of $10 online using a credit card will immediately receive a charitable donation receipt from The Winnipeg Foundation for tax deduction purposes. Additionally, if a donation reaches $20,000 within five years, or if donors plan to do so, they are encouraged to notify the ACPMB board, as this would allow the establishment of a named scholarship in their honor.

Applicants for the scholarship must be full-time undergraduate students in their third or fourth year of study at a Manitoba university, with a GPA of over 3.5 (on a 4.5 scale) over the past two to three years. They must demonstrate a commitment to Chinese culture and leadership in Manitoba’s Chinese community. To apply, students are required to submit an updated CV, a statement of leadership activities, and three reference letters by August 15 of each year. The ACPMB board or a scholarship committee will review and select up to three students annually, depending on the available fund’s yield, with no appeal process for the scholarship decision.

The current contact for any questions regarding the scholarship is Dr. Jiuyong Xie, who can be reached by email at xiej@umanitoba.ca.
